Yes, i've been raving about how magical and lyrical this book is, but i have to emphasize that the pace is fast, too! Okay, so i loved the first book in this series and after reading the synopsis of this one, i was scared it was going to be a repeat of the first one with just minor differences. Scarlet and her sister, donatella, have always dreamed of going to caraval, a msterious and magical performance that occurs once a year.

Tella was scarletts motivation to compete in caraval which was the entire plot of the book. It had many twists and turns that kept me invested in the plot and moving quickly through the story. Rather than review each book of this series individually, i thought i would tackle this series all at once!

What we did see of the caraval was truly magical and the occasions that we did get to venture out into the actual area itself, it was really interesting and atmospheric to read about. This year, scarlet and tella sneak away from their abusive home to experience it before scarlet gets. I give it 4 stars!
